Post Surgery Breast Augmentation Complications

Many women today want to have the “ideal” breasts and when the option is pursued to have breast implants or augmentation there is always the risk of post surgery breast augmentation complications.

Keep in mind that there are many complications that can occur during any type of surgery performed on the human body since it is a very invasive procedure. So when it comes to breast augmentation there is no exception to this rule. It is always good to know what can happen for better or worse when it comes to any type of surgery. It is also important to be aware of the possible outcomes so you can be as prepared as possible for the good or the bad results. This will be important in your emotional recovery if you do experience post surgery complications.

There are a number of complications that can exist post surgery so you’ll want to be looking out for these immediately after your surgery. The most common are post-opt bleeding, filling with fluid or any typical signs of infection like redness and pain. It is not uncommon for complications to exist within the first 3 years of surgery. They are things like breast pain, nipple sensitivity, implant leaking and even interference with breast-feeding.

Feelings in the breast and nipple can change after the implant surgery has been completed. These changes may include increased sensitivity, chronic pain and lack of feeling in the breast or nipple that can last for several months or even years following the implant surgery. After a few years, between two and eight percent of breast augmentation patients end up having chronic breast pain.

Another 1-2% report breast sensitivity changes, and 3-10% experience nipple complications like losing sensations within that area. Keep in mind that these statistics are the same for both silicone gel implants and the saline implants.

There is no long-term data that indicates any complications after five years regarding women who have saline implants versus silicone. You’ll want to keep in mind that the complications can have significant effects on nipple sensitivity that can be temporary or permanent. Further complications may include a negative effect on sexual response and/or the ability to breast-feed a baby.

Be aware of the risks and complications and inform yourself of all the steps and decisions that are needed in order for you to have a successful breast augmentation.

As a result of the post surgery breast augmentation complications and others that were not mentioned in this article many women are turning to natural means for breast enhancement. There are herbs that stimulate estrogen and enlarge the breasts and there is a new ingredient on the market showing an increase in breast size of up to 8.4% in clinical studies.

There are other options that are non-invasive and safe. Take time to inform yourself so that you make the decision and can stick by it.
